In the foreground is SWIFTSURE II, a reproduction of an original 1860 Tasmanian whaleboat. The original whaleboat is housed in the Canterbury Museum, Christchurch, New Zealand.

The reproduction of SWIFTSURE II was launched in 2004 and is part of The Living Boat Trust based in Franklin, Tasmania, ‘…is dedicated to keeping Tasmania’s marine heritage alive through traditional boat building, repairing, rowing and sailing skills, and to be a vital part of its community. It celebrates the history and beauty of this area and strive for a sustainable way of life for all concerned’.
