About The Artist
Victoria Kitanov
Victoria Kitanov artist & author of Claim Your Space: A Beginners Guide to Create Your Own Artist Sanctuary (2022)
Victoria Kitanov is a multi-award-winning artist, author, and sculptor, with a passion for helping people tap into their creative core for mindful wellbeing, and to help them fulfil their creative potential.
An artist of renown in her own right, Victoria paints for the pure pleasure of doing so, and for privately commissioned artworks.
Victoria has a strong background in commercial art and children’s book illustration, ultimately creating a name for herself as the official re-illustrator of May Gibbs’ iconic gum nut babies under the May Gibbs Trade Mark in the 1990s. Prior to leaving her profession in 1998, she was frequently invited to run Illustration demonstrations in schools, entertaining thousands of children with on-the-spot sketching and lots of audience participation and has made regular guest appearances at Children’s Book Week and related events.
In addition to her artistic side, Victoria has enjoyed a successful career in the Library and Information Industry, the Australian Public Service with the Department of Defence, and as a Tour Guide at The Australian War Memorial. Employed for 12 years with the Royal Australian Navy in library, information, history, and archives, ultimately propelled Victoria toward renown as a serious marine painter.
Victoria is the founder of Entrée to Arts Pty Ltd, Victoria Kitanov Fine Art, and Victoria Hall Scone. She was recently invited to facilitate a 2-day art workshop: Wonderful Watercolour by Scone Arts & Crafts and now runs art classes, workshops, and creative retreats at her 19th-century home, Victoria Hall Scone (formerly The Mechanics Institute School of Arts, 1972-1916), in the beautiful Upper Hunter region of New South Wales.
Victoria is the author of Claim Your Space: A Beginners Guide to Create Your Own Artist Sanctuary (ISBN 9781922714633) published in 2022.
