I was briefly introduced by my partner to Lucy as she sat with her baby, Zachary, on the deck of her yacht, Friesia enjoying the warmth of late afternoon.

Friesia was moored on the long wharf behind what was once Cameron’s Boat Yard (now Michael Bartley Shipwrights), Balmain.

According to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, Friesia’s official number is 860153, she’s 10.82 metres in length, was built in 1977.

On the AMSA register the vessel is described as a ‘pleasure craft’ – a very apt description for my recollection of the lovely Lucy and her little water-baby enjoying the pure pleasure of life aboard their graceful yacht, Friesia.
